Incarcerated rapper Turk, best known as an member of Cash Money’s Hot Boys, learned some devastating news recently and is asking his fans for support.

According to, the rapper’s younger brother, Ronald Smith, was gunned down in New Orleans during the early morning hours of Monday (February 22).

Police reportedly found Smith’s lifeless body behind a daiquiri shop at around 3:00 a.m. He had suffered several gunshot wounds.

While details surrounding the murder were unknown at press time, authorities have reportedly apprehended a suspect — 19-year-old Travis Dennis, who has admitted to being the shooter.

Turk sent out a message to media this week, urging fans to help his family financially, so they can give Ronald Smith a proper burial

“My little brother and I were as close as brothers can be and it hurts me to lose him at such a young age, but as a man I must be strong,” the rapper said. “I have been in jail now for over six yrs and there’s not much I can do. My mother is mourning over the loss of her youngest child and over the fact that there is no insurance or funds to arrange the proper burial.

“I am asking for you to get the word out and to also help financially in any way you can. Any donations can be sent to me at the Shelby County Jail by Western Union and for those who know me personally, funds can be given directly to my mother Ms. Pamela Smith,” Turk continued.

Lil Wayne Set To "Drop The World" With New Video

MTV News sat down with Lil Wayne’s Drop The World producer Chris Robinson about Weezy’s upcoming video featuring Eminem. Drop The World will be the next single off Weezy’s Rock-inspired Rebirth album. Chris Robinson explained how hard it is to have to megastars share the spotlight in a music video.

“As a director, it’s how do you, more than anything, combine these two artists together and create something that’s special,” he explained. “Because when you have two artists together, it’s like, ‘Oh, they’ll stand next to each other [and that’s it].’ It’s very awkward sometimes to have two very big stars. How are you gonna cover that? Especially two artists that are so big. You can do that with a performance at the Grammys, because the spectacle is to watch them onstage and sit in the audience and look at it. But as an artistic piece to have some magic, or if it’s a mood piece or whatever way you communicate the music, you have to take two people into consideration with how you do that. And for me, I almost take it like a feature film: How did Scorsese put Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio in the same movie?”

Drop The World was filmed on the eve of the Grammys and Robinson says Wayne was on set for about 14 hours. While not giving away the direction of the video, Robinson did discuss the intensity of the upcoming video.

“You got two guys who are basically huge supernovas coming together, and the way that the song is constructed is great,” he said. “Because unless you see it coming, you don’t know Eminem is on the track. The first two hooks and the first two verses are all Wayne, and it’s kind of a surprise when Eminem comes through, and we matched it visually how Eminem enters the piece. From the concept and to just hearing the lyrics, with both of these amazing lyricists killing it, the whole video is just energy.”

As of press time there hasn’t been a release date scheduled for the premiere of the video but Robinson will probably be done with the final edit by next week.
