Lawyer Responds To Diddy’s Assault Denial, ‘[He] Is Engulfed In Fantasy And Not Reality’

The lawyer representing a real estate agent who claims he was assaulted by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs at an Oscar Party last year has responded to the Bad Boy mogul’s recent denial of the incident.

As reported earlier, Gerard Rechnitzer filed a lawsuit against Diddy in March 2007 claiming the mogul punched him in the jaw outside the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles in February 2007.

Rechnitzer said Diddy attacked him while he was trying to stop the Bad Boy mogul from hitting on his fiancé. He also claimed Diddy pushed his fiancé and attempted to spit on a female who was accompanying him and his fiancé.

Diddy responded to the claims last week saying that Rechnitzer attacked him first and that ‘[He] outstretched one of his hands, which was not closed-fisted, to shield [him] self and that any contact between him and Rechnitzer was caused by the real estate agent’s forward motion against [his] stationary open hand.”

According to The Los Angeles Independent, Rechnitzer’s lawyer, Michael M. Marzban, responded to Diddy’s claims via court papers filed February 20th saying that the mogul’s defense is not realistic.

“People do not bounce off hands with their face/body, they get punched,’’ Marzban wrote. “ The defense is engulfed in fantasy and not reality.”

Marzban, who also argued that four people witnessed the incident, is requesting for Diddy to turn over financial information for an assessment of his income.

Rechnitzer is seeking unspecified damages.

Judge Rules That Ja Rule Can’t Post Bail For Associates

A New York judge ruled Wednesday (February 27) that Ja Rule will not be allowed to post bail for co-defendants in his gun possession case.

According to the Associated Press, State Supreme Court Justice Micki Scherer told the rapper (real name: Jeffrey Atkins) that she is “troubled” that he’s posted thousands of dollars in bail money for his co-defendants.

She said that he “put himself in the position of perhaps controlling the outcome of the case,” and wants the other men — Dennis Cherry and Mohamed Gamal — to come up with their own money.

“I think the potential for it is a big problem,” Scherer said, reports the AP.

Ja Rule’s lawyer, Stacey Richman, said the defense would come up with separate bail packages for the co-defendants.

The judge said she’d make ruling March 20 on whether the defendants have to give DNA samples — the prosecutor said DNA evidence was found on the gun.

The gun possession charge stems from an arrest in July 2007 when Ja Rule, along with the co-defendants, were arrested after police pulled over his vehicle for speeding and found a .40 caliber handgun.
